"The Newfield program has had the most impact of anything I've done in my 74 years of life. The cost, compared to the outcome I've had, just feels negligible at this point."

The power of CPPM

The difference nine months can make

Spend a few moments with Verónica and Alexander, CPPM’s senior facilitators. Get a taste of what the program is about, and what becomes possible through Newfield’s unique approach to transformational learning.

Who CPPM is for?

For coaches, leaders, and
anyone ready to grow

People come to CPPM for different reasons. Maybe you want to become a masterful coach. Maybe you're a leader ready to deepen and refine your skills. Or perhaps you feel ready for a new chapter in your own life path. Whichever sounds like you, you're here to grow — and to make a meaningful difference. CPPM is where that next phase of learning begins.

FOR ASPIRING COACHES

Becoming a masterful coach

You'll learn to facilitate transformative conversations that create lasting change for your clients. Coaching at this depth is one of the most direct ways to serve another person's growth — and, one conversation at a time, help humanity discover its deeper potentials.

FOR LEADERS

Leading from depth

You'll learn to understand people more deeply through the art of deep listening, and to respond with skill rather than react. CPPM develops your emotional literacy, your access to wholeness, and your ability to hold different perspectives at once. Over time, this cultivates the compassion and empathy that engenders skillful action.

PERSONAL GROWTH SEEKERS

Doing the inner work

You'll come to know the deeper patterns that quietly run your life, and learn to shift them. You'll discover practices for meeting your pain, suffering, and inner conflict from a place of wholeness — and discover how that meeting becomes a profound key to inner transformation. Graduates often describe feeling more fulfilled, and watch their closest relationships change in meaningful ways.

The Program Structure

How CPPM unfolds

CPPM is a nine-month virtual program that unfolds in three phases, each building on the discoveries and distinctions that came before, each one taking you deeper. Phase one and two centers on a live virtual intensive, followed by weekly learning, one-on-one coaching, learning guides, online videos, and small-group exploration. As a whole, the program supports an unfolding from your own transformation, to coaching skill development, to entering the path of mastery.

PHASE I

Foundations of Ontological Learning

Months 1–4

The program begins with you. Before you learn to support others in their transformation, you engage in your own — shifting how you observe yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. A powerful coach or leader is someone who knows themselves deeply and has done their own development, so we start there. Over four months, you’ll learn the Newfield methodology and put it to practice in your own life, supported by live sessions, one-on-one coaching, small-group exploration, and a full library of videos and learning materials.

  • Foundation Course (6-day virtual intensive)
  • Module 1: Foundations of Ontological Learning (16 weeks virtual)

PHASE II

The Art of
Coaching

Months 5–8

With new self-awareness beneath you, you step into formal coach training. You’ll learn the Newfield distinctions that make ontological coaching so powerful, weave them together with the ICF Core Competencies, and practice extensively with real clients — a solid foundation in the ontological coaching tradition. Your learning is supported by mentor coaching, small-group practice, online video presentations, live training, and Studio Lab: recorded coaching sessions with expert commentary.

  • Coaching Intensive (6-day virtual intensive)
  • Module 2: The Art & Practice of Ontological Coaching (16 weeks virtual)

PHASE III

Integration & The Pathway to Mastery

Month 9 and beyond

The final stretch is where it all comes together. In the weeks leading up to the closing intensive, you’re guided through integration — returning to the models with more experience behind you, deepening what has already begun to take root. The intensive itself helps you embody all you’ve learned and you step across the threshold from learning how to coach to embodying your identity as a trained ontological coach — one who holds the competencies and the methodology quietly in the background, while what comes forward is transformative dialogue that’s emergent, creative, and carries the potential to change the lives of the people you work with. It’s also a celebration with the cohort you’ve gone so deeply with, many of whom become friends for life, and your entry into Newfield’s global community of graduates.

  • CPPM Closing Intensive (3-day virtual intensive)
  • Newfield Certification
  • ICF Accreditation eligibility
  • Lifelong Alumni Network

A closer look

The nine months, up close

Curious what the nine months actually look like? This walkthrough takes you inside the structure — the three live intensives, the coursework and learning guides, your one-on-one coaching and mentoring, and the peer community you’ll practice alongside. Watch this video for a clear, concrete picture of how CPPM works.

THE APPROACH

What makes ontological coaching different

Our approach looks at the underlying factors that shape action and our experience of the world. We call this the observer — the way each of us perceives, interprets, and makes meaning. The observer is a multi-layered landscape woven from language, cognition, emotion, soma, culture, developmental perspectives, and history. When we try to change only our actions, old patterns typically return. But when the observer shifts, a profound change takes place in the deep structure of our being.
Across these dimensions, the methodology offers us a comprehensive approach to emotional literacy, a rigorous understanding of the generative power of language, and a nuanced practice of working somatically in coaching. CPPM also includes a focused introduction to trauma-informed coaching. Together, the Newfield methodology and practices form a powerful pathway into the complex landscape of the human being — and how to effect meaningful, sustained change. One that helps you live, lead, and coach from a place of unbroken wholeness.

THE COHORT EXPERIENCE

Discover the power of collective learning

No two CPPM cohorts are alike. HR professionals, engineers, educators, physicians, lawyers, executives, therapists, entrepreneurs, parents — people at every stage of life and career — arrive from around the world, each with their own reasons for joining the program.
Much of the deepest learning happens in relationship.Your way of seeing is transformed, and your heart opened, by the stories and lived experience of the people beside you.
Each cohort becomes part of a global community carrying what they’ve learned outward — a growing movement of people changing how we live, lead, and relate, in every corner of the world.

What you walk away with

Lifelong outcomes from nine months of ontological learning and coach training

What graduates do with this training varies widely. What they consistently describe is a set of changes that traveled further than they expected — into their work, their relationships, and the way they show up in their lives.

A new way of being

Over nine months, something profound changes in you. The way you see yourself, others, and what’s possible begins to shift. Old patterns that once ran you start to loosen their grip, and you begin to respond artfully where you used to react. Beneath it all, you find your way to a sense of wholeness: a depth of being that is forever curious, alive with wonder, purposeful, and fully engaged with life.

Lifelong Friendships

You don’t just complete CPPM. You find your people—coaches, leaders, and changemakers who are all shaped by the same foundation, each carrying the work into the world in their own unique ways. Graduates consistently describe the cohort as one of the most unexpected gifts of the experience — relationships rich with meaning, nourishment, and a deep sense of belonging.

Coaching certification and the skills to enact meaningful change.

You will leave the CPPM program with an ICF Level 2 accredited education (including 125 coach-specific hours), establishing your foundation for ACC and PCC credentialing. Beyond the CPPM certificate of completion, you will gain an embodied methodology that targets the root patterns shaping human behavior, giving you the practiced capacity to guide deep, meaningful change.

Joining a global community shaping the future

As a Newfield coach, you join a collective movement of people working to transform how human beings relate, lead, and grow together. The skills you build here become a real contribution — your part in the next chapter of human flourishing.

Graduate voices

What CPPM graduates have to say

No one can speak to the impact of CPPM better than those who have experienced it. Watch below to hear from our graduates.

"Nasa undertook a year-long effort to look at coaching as a way of enabling performance. The Coaching team evaluated all programs identified by ICF. Newfield’s program was chosen by the majority of the team members as the best approach to reach one of our goals, which were to build our in-house capabilities to better serve our leaders, managers and employees."

COMMON QUESTIONS

What people ask about the program

Ontology means "the study of being." In practice, it points to how our sense of reality changes when our meaning-making lens changes.

Ontological coaching is an exploration of who we are as an emergent process. It supports you in learning to "look at how you look" — at yourself, at others, at life itself. As your way of seeing shifts, something in you shifts as well, inwardly, relationally, even physiologically.

This tradition understands transformation as a reorganization of the way we interpret, embody, and participate with the world. It pays careful attention to the deep interconnectedness of language, soma, emotion, cognition, culture, history, and developmental perspectives — recognizing that these dimensions of being are not separate, but woven together into one dynamic coherency.

Through deep listening, conscious inquiry and attunement this work transforms the deeper structure of how you make meaning, and from that shift, you begin to enact a new world.

No, prior coaching experience is not necessary. CPPM is designed to meet you wherever you are. Many participants arrive with no coaching background at all, and many arrive with years or decades of coaching practice behind them. Both have a place in CPPM. What matters most is a commitment to showing up fully for nine months and a genuine desire to develop these capacities from the inside out — regardless of how much experience you're bringing in.

Most participants budget about seven hours per week across live classes, coaching practice, and self-directed learning, in addition to the three intensives. The program is rigorous by design. Most people find that the more they bring to it, the more they take away. If you'd like to review the full schedule before enrolling, Quentin is happy to walk you through it on your discovery call.

For many participants, it is. CPPM is a fully ICF-accredited coach training program, and many people who go through it come for personal transformation or leadership development rather than to build a coaching practice. The first half of the program is dedicated to personal application, and many alumni say that alone is worth the investment. The coaching skills developed in the second half deepen your capacity to relate to and work with others, whether or not you ever coach professionally.

CPPM asks for nine months of genuine engagement, a willingness to be moved and challenged, and the capacity to show up fully. People looking for a quick credential or a light-touch introduction to coaching will find better options elsewhere. This program is for people who are ready to go deep.

The International Coaching Federation is the globally recognized credentialing body for professional coaches. An ICF Level 2 accreditation means that our coach training program (CPPM) meets their highest standards for coach-specific education, mentor coaching, and supervised practice. Completing CPPM fulfills the educational requirements for both the ACC (Associate Certified Coach) and PCC (Professional Certified Coach) credentials, two of the most recognized coaching certifications in the world.

CPPM is an ICF Level 2 accredited program. Upon successful completion, you will have fulfilled the 125 coach-specific education hours required for certification and passed the Newfield Certification Exam, making you eligible to apply for your ACC credential at 100 coaching hours, or your PCC credential at 500.

Yes. CPPM is delivered entirely online, with three live virtual intensives and two 16-week learning modules. Participants join from all over the world, and the global cohort is itself a meaningful part of the learning.

Our community spans the globe, so participants join the cohort from all over the world. The three virtual intensives are our primary fixed time commitments, held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET on Wednesdays through Fridays to accommodate as many time zones as possible. Most everything else is designed to be flexible.  Live module sessions are offered at multiple times, and you will coordinate the timing of your coaching sessions and peer learning groups. We also work intentionally to pair you with colleagues in compatible time zones.

Graduation unlocks four key benefits:

  • Certification: You earn ICF Level 2 accredited education (125 coach-specific hours), establishing your foundation for ACC and PCC credentials.
  • Capacity: You gain a profound, lasting shift in how you lead, listen, communicate, and coach.
  • Continuing Education: You are eligible for advanced Newfield courses to keep your practice evolving.
  • Alumni Community: You join a global community of coaches, leaders, and practitioners committed to lifelong learning, networking and courageously being of service to the world.
