WHY LUMINA
A Deep and Integrative Path
Parts-Informed
Lumina helps you work with parts of the self that carry pain, protection, reactivity, and hidden potential. These parts are not problems to fix, but expressions of wholeness. As inner conflict transforms, profound shifts occur in our relationships with family, friends, and community.
Post-Tragic
Lumina fosters our post-tragic potential, the possibility of returning to pain, loss, and suffering from a deeper ground of wholeness — meeting tragedy not as an endpoint, but as an invocation of possibility.
A Developmental Embrace
Grounded in developmental research and Integral theory, Lumina meets the full complexity of who you are. Rather than applying a fixed template, the work embraces your entire developmental landscape — so that every aspect of you is met with what it needs.
Integrative
Lumina weaves together shadow work, the arc of human development, and Eastern wisdom into one coherent whole. Working with our shadows, awakening to wholeness, and showing up with integrity are not treated as separate domains — in Lumina, each one deepens and illuminates the others.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Questions people ask before enrolling
A few things people often ask before stepping into the Lumina Process.
Do I have to be a coach, therapist, acupuncturist, or other helping practitioner to take this course?
No. Lumina Level I is designed both to teach you the method as a personal practice and to set the foundation for practicing the modality as a helping professional. Levels II and III are for those who want to learn how to apply this work professionally. Level I is great if you only plan to explore parts work for your own personal development. For coaches and other practitioners, Level I is a prerequisite for the rest of the training. That said, Lumina Level I focuses on your personal practice and on embodying the material in your own life. Level II and III are where you learn how to apply everything to the coaching dialogue. The Lumina Process also weaves in other dimensions inspired by Chinese medicine, Tibetan Buddhism, Daoist internal alchemy, developmental theory, and John Kesler's Integral Polarity Practice. Alexander is not formally IFS-trained and offers a method that reflects his integration of many sources.
Will I be trained to do shadow resolution with others?
If you are new to coaching and/or parts work, this course will introduce you to the Lumina Process view of parts, help you create a personal practice, and show you how to use what you learn to become "parts informed." If you are already a coach, this will profoundly enhance your practice and give you many new distinctions and possibilities for supporting change. Being a parts-informed practitioner is a game changer, and you will learn how to apply this method. I'm familiar with Internal Family Systems (IFS) and/or Kim Barta's work. Is this the same?
No, but it is informed by those and other traditions. The Lumina Process draws on some distinctions offered by IFS, as well as Alexander's exploration of parts work with Kim Barta. It is inspired by both of those traditions but has many distinct differences. Is this course ICF approved for CCEs?
Yes. This course is ICF approved for 40 Coaching Continuing Education (CCE) units — 36 in core competency and 4 in resource development.
How long do I have access to the course, and what if I need to miss a day?
Lumina Level I is a live three-month Zoom course. It will be recorded, and the recordings will be uploaded to our platform, which you will have access to indefinitely. You can return to the presentations and practices whenever you like, or catch up if you miss a day or any portion of the live event.
Is there support after the training ends?
Yes. For those who want to continue with the Lumina practice, after completing Level I you can join Lumina Monthly — an ongoing gathering where we go deeply into various aspects of the work. Each session includes group practice, breakout conversations, and time to dive deeply together as a community, including exploring any questions that arise along the way.
What if I'm unhappy with the course?
If for any reason you are unsatisfied with the course, let us know within seven days of the start of the course and we will give you a full refund.
